We wanted to make you aware of several upcoming events that we are hosting this spring.
Friday, March 27th, 3:00 pm, Kettle Creek, UCCS campus. As a part of the American Academy of Religion Rocky Mountain-Great Plains Regional Conference, the CSE is hosting Dr. David Evans (Eastern Mennonite Seminary), author of Damned Whiteness: How White Christian Allies Failed the Black Freedom Movement. Friday, April 3rd, 2026, 6:00 pm, Heller Center for the Arts—Jesus Springs: Evangelical Capitalism and the Fate of an American City - An Evening with William Schultz (University of Chicago). Dr. Schultz new book highlights the central role that Colorado Springs played in the rise of power and influence of American evangelicalism within the nation’s spiritual economy. Admission and parking is free. Map.

Thursday, May 7th, 2026, 6:00 pm, The ENT Center for the Arts, Chapman Auditorium—Has Evangelical Christianity Become a Threat to American Democracy? An Evening with Matthew D. Taylor (Georgetown University). Dr. Taylor’s book, The Violent Take It by Force (2024), stands as the authoritative text on Christian Nationalism in the United States. His work has appeared or been featured in the New York Times, Weekend Edition, On the Media, Rolling Stone, The Bulwark, Politico, Sojourners, and Religion News Service. Admission and parking is free (no ticket required).
