Project 2025 and beyond
Thanks to all of you who helped make our Project 2025 series last month a rousing success! Over 1000 people attended the four events at First Congregational Church in total. This speaks to a deep yearning in our community for information about the changing association between religion and politics on the local, national, and global level.
We, at the Center for the Study of Evangelicalism at UCCS, want to capitalize on this momentum in the upcoming year as we continue to critically examine Evangelicalism and its relationship to the political and cultural landscape. To that end, we have four events this fall that are all open to the public and free to attend.
The next event features Dr. Karen Swallow Prior who specializes in Evangelicalism and literature. She taught at Liberty University, founded by Jerry Falwell, for two decades before leaving over her voicing of political views that conflicted with the university. Here is an insightful interview with Dr. Prior: https://academeblog.org/2022/09/13/a-conversation-with-karen-swallow-prior/
The event is on Thursday, September 4th at 6:00 pm at UCCS Downtown (102 S Tejon St).
And please go to our Center’s website for more information about the upcoming event as well as for dates and information on the other events that we are hosting this fall: https://center.uccs.edu/cse/
Thanks again to all who attended and participated in the Project 2025 series. We hope we can keep the momentum going.
