To all of you who were in attendance last Wednesday evening for part 1 of our Project 2025 series, thank you! With a packed, engaged, (and warm) house, it’s clear that there is a real need in our community to address this document and its impact.
Part 2 of our series continues this Wednesday, July 16th, 6:00-7:30 pm at First Congregational Church as we seek to answer the question, “Where did Project 2025 come from?” The event will feature a presentation by local scholars Paul Harvey and Jeff Scholes who will address the history and theology behind Project 2025.
At the request of the church, we will not be live-streaming the event nor will there be a virtual option to attend. However, we are recording all events and generating transcripts, and these will be made available at a later date.
But we will be live-streaming the final event in the series on Wed., July 30th that features David A. Graham, staff writer at The Atlantic and author of The Project. David will be projected from the screen to at First Congregational as well for in-person attendees. A Zoom link will be sent out before this event, and questions from both the in-person and virtual audience will be fielded.
We hope to see you at this event on Wednesday and for the following two Wednesdays at the church. Please arrive early to guarantee a seat.
We are witnessing drastic changes to our country on a daily basis. Familiarity with Project 2025 can only help us respond intelligently and deliberately.
Paul Harvey is Distinguished Professor of History at UCCS and is currently working on a book about religion, race, and democracy in American history.
Jeffrey Scholes is Professor of Religious Studies in the Philosophy Department at UCCS and is currently working on a book about religion and sports fandom.
