Lecture Next Thursday 5/8

The Center for the Study of Evangelicalism invites you to join us for our upcoming lecture next Thursday, 5/8/2025, from Lucia Hulsether, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at Skidmore College. The lecture will be held in the Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist Church, 420 N Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 Doors open at 5:30pm, and the lecture starts at 6pm. We hope to see you there!

Hulsether’s work focuses on capitalism & labor, histories of social movements, feminist theory, popular culture & media, and other topics in contemporary religion & cultural critique. Her first book, Capitalist Humanitarianism, was published in 2023 by Duke University Press and won the 2024 "Best First Book" Prize from the Cultural Studies Association. Hulsether is also currently in residence at Brown University as a Senior Fellow in Race & Ethnicity and a Lecturer in Religious Studies.

The event is free and open to the public. There will be a public Q&A and a book signing hosted by the author to follow the lecture.
